With Arciplug® PLUG FLOW technology, a wide variety of feedstocks can be processed efficiently. The system supports the simultaneous use of different feedstocks or a complete switch to an alternative feed in case of availability issues. This flexibility enables the utilization of both conventional waste and more challenging raw materials, such as solid waste, straw, and other complex organic streams, contributing to India’s sustainable energy transition.

Traditionally, paddy straw in Haryana has been burned in nearby fields, significantly contributing to air pollution and smog in Delhi. How PLUG FLOW Handles Challenging Feedstocks Efficiently

While many traditional biogas systems, including CSTR (Continuously Stirred Tank Reactor) technologies, struggle with high-solids waste like contaminated OMSW or paddy/rice straw, Arciplug®’s PLUG FLOW design is engineered specifically for these conditions.

• No added water required: Our dry digestion process handles high-solids content without dilution, reducing digestate volume and simplifying post-treatment.
• Consistent retention time: All feedstock moves in one direction, ensuring uniform residence time and higher methane yields. Unlike in CSTR systems, there is no risk of partially digested material bypassing the process.
• Robust operation: The system tolerates feedstock variability and maintains stability even with irregular or fibrous waste streams.
• pH control and staged biology: A dedicated hydrolysis phase enables precise microbial management, supporting the breakdown of lignin-rich materials and boosting overall biogas production.
